Moisture problems after renovations? Here's how to solve them

For example, if you experience moisture problems a year after the completion of your renovation, then both the contractor (execution error) and the architect (design errors) are liable. Both fall under 10-year liability for minor hidden defects and for serious construction defects that compromise the stability of your home.

How do you solve this?

  1. First and foremost, notify your insurance company.
  2. Compile your claim file (photos can be a big help here).
    - Have the moisture problem diagnosed by a specialist in the field. In doing so, the moisture specialist can also determine the cause of the moisture problem.
    - Get quotes, to repair the damage.
  3. Submit the file to your contractor and your architect and try to avoid all discussions by resolving the problem in compromise.
  4. If both still refuse any cooperation or refuse to fulfil their duty, we recommend that you take a lawyer under your wing and declare them in default.
