Moisture problems after renovations? Solve it this way

If, for example, you experience moisture problems one year after completion of your renovation, then both the contractor (implementation error) and the architect (design error) are liable. Both are covered by 10-year liability for minor hidden defects and for serious construction defects that endanger the stability of your home.

How do you solve this?

  1. First of all, notify your insurance company.
  2. Put together your claim file (photos can be a great help here).
    - Have the moisture problem diagnosed by a specialist in the field. The moisture specialist can also determine the cause of the moisture problem.
    - Ask for quotations to repair the damage.
  3. Present the file to your contractor and your architect and try to avoid all discussions by resolving the problem in compromise.
  4. If they still refuse to cooperate or do not fulfil their duties, we recommend that you hire a lawyer to serve notice on them.
